The aroma can be floral, citrus, fruity or any number of familiar scents depending on the grape variety, the winemaking process and the wine’s storage conditions. Our taste buds detect sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami and whilst there is no single formula for all wines, a balanced wine should have its basic flavour components in good proportion
Wine Harvesting & Production Timing
The harvesting of wine grapes (vintage) is one of the most crucial steps in the wine-making process. The time of harvest is determined primarily by the ripeness of the grape as measured by sugar, acid and tannin levels with expert winemakers making crucial decisions when to pick based on the style of wine they wish to produce
