Henri de Villamont Bourgogne Pinot Noir Prestige, Burgundy, France
Henri de Villamont’s Pinot Noir red Burgundy wine is a rather sophisticated affair, showing real depth of fruit and a fine silky texture. The balance between berry-floral flavour, medium-bodied structure and gentle oak is absolutely spot-on.

Occupying an impressive nineteenth-century building in Savigny-Lès- Beaune, Henri de Villamont is a medium-sized producer that combines an enviable domaine (they are particularly strong in Chambolle-Musigny) with a meticulously sourced négociant range. The cuverie was updated with the latest equipment less than ten years ago, and underneath there is ample storage for barrels in the beautiful double-height cellar. These features give the winemaker flexibility and precision, resulting in excellent expression of the various terroirs on offer, which include some particularly well-sited vineyards.
Grapes for this wine were sourced from three vineyard areas: Côte de Beaune, Bouzeron and Vosne-Romanée.
After a four-day cold maceration, the must fermented at 15-30oC in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Fifty percent of the wine was then aged for eleven months in new oak barrels.
