Producer

Antinori, one of Italy’s most renowned and historic winemaking families, has been crafting exceptional wines for over 26 generations. The Pèppoli estate, located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, combines traditional Tuscan winemaking with modern techniques to produce wines that reflect the beauty and richness of the land. Antinori’s commitment to sustainability and innovation ensures that every bottle embodies the authentic character of Tuscany. The Pèppoli Chianti Classico is crafted to highlight the bright, fruit-forward elegance of Sangiovese while maintaining the depth and complexity the region is known for.

The Pèppoli vineyards produce a Chianti Classico that is recognised and appreciated for the full expression of its fruit. A wine that represents the Chianti Classico territory and its historic grape variety with typical floral and fruity aromas. Pèppoli was first produced in 1985 and since 2013 part of the harvest undergoes vinification at the Antinori nel Chianti Classico cellars.

The Pèppoli estate is located 5 kilometers north east of the Tenuta Tignanello estate with a total area of 100 hectares (247 acres) of which 50 hectares (123 acres) are planted with vineyards and is home to Peppoli Chianti Classico DOCG. The Peppoli estate also has a long standing tradition for producing Peppoli Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Peppoli Red Wine Vinegar made by transforming Peppoli wine into vinegar using traditional methods.

Food Pairings

This versatile red pairs beautifully with classic Italian dishes and hearty fare. Its bright acidity and fruit-forward profile complement pasta with tomato-based sauces, such as spaghetti Bolognese or lasagna. It’s also an excellent match for roasted meats, grilled lamb, or herbed chicken. For a vegetarian pairing, try it with eggplant parmigiana, mushroom risotto, or a rich vegetable stew. Its balance of acidity and tannins makes it an ideal wine for aged cheeses like Pecorino or Parmigiano-Reggiano.

Wine Region

The Chianti Classico region, nestled in Tuscany between Florence and Siena, is the birthplace of Italy’s most famous red wines. Known for its rolling hills, cypress trees and ancient vineyards, the region offers a unique terroir characterised by well-drained soils, warm days and cool nights.

This combination allows Sangiovese grapes to ripen slowly, developing vibrant fruit flavors and balanced acidity. The Gallo Nero (Black Rooster) symbol on the label is a hallmark of quality, ensuring the wine meets the strict regulations of the Chianti Classico DOCG.
