Miraflors Cotes du Roussillon Rose Domaine Lafage, Languedoc-Roussillon, France

TASTING NOTES

Miraflors Côtes du Roussillon Rosé is one of Domaine Lafage’s flagship wines and a benchmark for elegant southern French rosé.  Delicately pale salmon pink, it is a blend of Grenache Gris and Mourvèdre, grown on terraced plots along the coast and aged in concrete.  The wine is decidedly Provencal in style and is juicy, with pure strawberry, citrus and orange peel flavours. The wine has a subtle hint of Mediterranean minerality, white flowers with a deliciously fresh finish, silky palate with balance and finesse.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS WINE

Miraflors Rosé captures the elegance and freshness of southern France. From the moment you place the beautifully frosted bottle on the table, Miraflors feels like something special. Its premium reusable Vinolok glass stopper and elegant presentation make it a wine you’ll want to keep long after the last glass has been enjoyed, with the bottle lending itself perfectly to reuse as a water carafe, vase or decorative piece. Inside, you’ll discover a wonderfully fresh and refined rosé that effortlessly balances vibrant berry fruit, citrus freshness and coastal minerality, delivering exceptional quality, versatility and outstanding value from one of Roussillon’s most respected family estates.

Miraflors Rosé has become one of the signature wines of Domaine Lafage and is regarded as one of the finest expressions of modern Roussillon rosé. Produced from carefully selected coastal vineyards influenced by cooling Mediterranean breezes, the wine achieves an exceptional balance between ripe southern French fruit and vibrant natural freshness.

The fruit is harvested during the cool early mornings before being gently direct pressed, a technique favoured for producing elegant, pale rosés with purity and finesse. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, preserving the wine’s bright aromatics and crisp fruit profile before a short period of ageing on fine lees adds texture and complexity.

In the glass, Miraflors displays a beautiful pale salmon colour. The nose is expressive and refined, offering aromas of wild strawberries, raspberries, nectarine, pink grapefruit, white blossom and subtle Mediterranean herbs, underpinned by a delicate mineral and saline character.

The palate is beautifully balanced—fresh, silky and wonderfully drinkable—with juicy red berries, citrus zest, gentle spice and an elegant mineral finish that lingers long after each sip.

This is an exceptionally versatile rosé, equally at home as an aperitif or paired with food throughout the year.

Producer

Jean-Marc Lafage’s family has been growing grapes in Roussillon for six generations but it was Jean-Marc who had the ambition to stop selling the grapes to the local co-op and create a domaine. He and his oenologist wife, Eliane, founded Domaine Lafage in 1996 and the estate now runs to some 138 hectares of vines across Roussillon, with parcels in the Agly Valley, Aspres and Perpignan.

The Agly Valley, with its black shale and layered schist soil in the shadow of ruined Cathar castles is one of Europe’s most exciting terroirs. Eliane and Jean-Marc specialise in growing old vines that impart pronounced minerality and concentration to their wines. The region is best known for its red wines, but don’t forget to try the whites too. Grenache Blanc is one of the most underrated grapes in the world of wine and Domaine Lafage produces some of the very best we have ever tasted.

Wine Region

Côtes du Roussillon, Languedoc-Roussillon, France

Situated between the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrenees, Côtes du Roussillon enjoys one of France’s sunniest climates. Warm days encourage full fruit ripeness, while cool sea breezes and mountain influences preserve acidity and freshness.

The region’s varied soils of limestone, schist and clay contribute complexity and minerality, making it particularly well suited to elegant rosé production. Coastal vineyards such as those used for Miraflors benefit from natural maritime cooling, producing wines with freshness rarely found in similarly warm climates. Today, Roussillon is recognised as one of France’s most exciting regions for premium rosé wines, combining Mediterranean richness with remarkable elegance.
