WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS WINF

From 45-year-old vines in the heart of Pouilly-Fuissé, this Vieilles Vignes cuvée by Domaine Trouillet is a beautiful expression of old-vine Chardonnay from one of the most prestigious appellations in southern Burgundy. With a harmonious balance of ripe orchard fruit, refined oak and a chiselled minerality that reflects its limestone terroir, this wine is both luxurious and precise. Ideal for lovers of white Burgundy who appreciate depth, texture, and elegance.

Extended Taste Notes:

On the nose, aromas of ripe pear, apricot and acacia are layered with toasted hazelnut and a creamy lees character.

The palate is full and silky, with flavours of baked apple, lemon cream and a touch of smoke from well-integrated oak.

A saline, mineral edge lends freshness to the long, complex finish. This wine has the finesse of classic white Burgundy and the intensity that comes from old vines and meticulous winemaking.

Producer

Ideally situated at the foot of the famous rock of Solutré, in the hamlet of Pouilly, Domaine Trouillet – currently managed by Marie-Agnès (3rd generation) and her son William (4th generation) – extends over about twenty hectares today, which is a sign of excellent dynamism as Jules Guérin, Marie-Agnès’s grandfather, started with 4 hectares of share-cropped land (in the hamlet of Pouilly) which his son Jean worked for 45 years.  Expansion occurred gradually over the generations, which today allows the vineyard to produce several well-known appellations

The Vieilles Vignes (old vines) cuvée is crafted from Chardonnay vines over 45 years old, deeply rooted in limestone-clay soils, which contribute richness and a distinctive mineral character. The domaine employs a sustainable approach to viticulture, carefully managing yields and using traditional Burgundian techniques, including ageing in French oak barrels with regular bâtonnage to build texture. Their wines are highly regarded for their precision, finesse and ageability.

Wine Region

Situated in southern Burgundy, Pouilly-Fuissé is the crown jewel of the Mâconnais and one of the most acclaimed appellations for Chardonnay outside the Côte d’Or.

The vineyards are nestled on limestone-rich slopes at the foot of the famous Roche de Solutré. The region benefits from a slightly warmer climate than northern Burgundy, resulting in wines with ripe fruit, opulence, and freshness. The combination of altitude, ancient soils, and meticulous winemaking produces Chardonnays that are rich yet refined, with ageing potential and distinctive mineral tension.
